| HELP! |
[Jul. 11th, 2008|03:31 pm] |
At long last I'm moving from the East Village to the Wilds of Brooklyn.
I have decided that I deserve to pay others to sweat for me. Also, my knees have decided they're old& refuse to move from one 4-story walk up to a second 4-story walk up. I've got some money set aside, I've got a date picked. I'm half way packed& haven't quite lost my mind yet. Only, I have absolutely no idea how to go about picking a reputable moving company. I know I need something bigger than a man w/ a van& smaller than a corporate/ full residential move. I've been looking thru internet review sites& craigslist& I'm officially lost, flummoxed& certain anyone I pick will be a scam. Also, as I would like to move on the 28th, I feel like I'm running out of time.
zo:
Anyone out there done this before? How do you pick a good moving company? Do you know a good one to recommend?
help! please! |

TNG is Party-ing! TNG is Party-ing!
A bite& BYTE on Sunday:
We'll be meeting up at 8pm Sunday at 'Inoteca (98 Rivington St., at Ludlow). We'll be headed over to the Delancy Lounge (168 Delancey, b/t Clinton and Attorney) for the Byte party around 10, 10:30ish. Dinner is just for TNGers& their guests,
Dancing is for Everyone!
The cover depends on how you dress-- it's one of the ways the organizers of Byte encourage people to get into the spirit. It's $5 if you're a "fetish diva, creative goth, cyberpunk, material girl, fashionista... alternative sexiness... and anyone who can leave their inhibitions at home". $10 for all black, $15 for anything else. Black, lacy, anything you can find really will work. It's all about how you carry it--if you believe that you've got more angst-y fabulousness than everyone else in the room, they'll believe it too. Trust me. Just stay away from sneakers ;>
If you want to know more about the restaurant or the party you can check out:

i took a long wander with tash tonight. a nod to studio 253. down to delancy. a few blocks west of the bridge walking up to houston she stops to sniff at a paper bag. i look behind me. shadows with scarfs crossing at the corner. a short stocky middle aged man, tan clothes, dark skin standing up the block. he locks eyes with me, bends his knees to the ground arms above his head. and he bows. and he kisses the ground. looks up& grins at me.
i walk to the corner, he follows me. he stands at the corner & watches us walk up the block |

Who's up for some old-timey fun?
Reverend Billy's Revival
The Brooklyn Lyceum will be the site of some fabulous exorcisms, prayers, shouts, and radical gospel with the Church of Stop Shopping. The Reverend and the choir kick off their All Borough Revival Tour in the Wal-Mart-and-Ratner resistant borough of Brooklyn.
